Brighton vs. Manchester United: Premier League – Match Preview

Manchester United will look to get off the mark when they open the Premier League weekend off away at an impressive Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brighton eased to a 3-0 win at Newcastle last weekend, with Neal Maupay scoring twice and assisting the third.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Alexis MacAllister scored as Brighton won 2-0 at Preston in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Manchester United also progressed past a Championship outfit in the competition, winning 3-0 away at Luton Town.

They were surprisingly beaten at home by Crystal Palace in their league opener though, with Wilfried Zaha scoring twice against his former employers.

Match history
Manchester United won both meetings last season, including a 3-0 win at the Amex with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice.

Prior to this Brighton have a decent home record against United, winning two of the three Premier League matches at the Amex.

Last five Premier League meetings
Brighton 0 Manchester United 3 – 30/06/20
Manchester United 3 Brighton 1 – 10/11/19
Manchester United 2 Brighton 1 – 19/01/19

Team news
Tariq Lamptey was taken off against Newcastle and is a big doubt for the visit of Manchester United.

Yves Bissouma is suspended, whilst Adam Lallana may return despite suffering an injury in the opening fixture against Chelsea.

Mason Greenwood and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are set to come in having been subs against Crystal Palace.

Donny van de Beek scored off the bench in the defeat, however may have to make do with a sub role once again.

Expected starting XI’s
Brighton (3-4-3): Ryan; White, Dunk, Webster; Lamptey, Lallana, Alzate, March; Trossard, Connolly, Maupay
Manchester United (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Pogba, Matic; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial
