Chelsea vs. Arsenal: Premier League – Match Preview

Arsenal travel to face London rivals Chelsea on Saturday evening knowing a win will see them go top of the Premier League.

Chelsea won two in a row before the international break, including a comfortable 4-1 win away at Burnley.

Raheem Sterling scored one and played a huge role in two others as Chelsea moved into the top half of the Premier League.

Arsenal ended their poor record against Manchester City last time out, edging past the champions by a goal to nil.

In a game of little chances, Gabriel Martinelli scored a late deflected winner to send them level with Tottenham at the top of the league.

Chelsea – Raheem Sterling 3 goals
Arsenal – Bukayo Saka 4 goals

Match history
Arsenal have won the last three league meetings between the two and also have recorded three consecutive wins at Stamford Bridge.

Last season’s fixture was decided by a single goal, however Arsenal could have won by a lot more than Gabriel’s strike.

Last five Premier League meetings
Arsenal 3 Chelsea 1 – 02/05/23
Chelsea 0 Arsenal 1 – 06/11/22
Chelsea 2 Arsenal 4 – 20/04/22

Team news
Reece James is back in contention for Chelsea, but it’s unclear whether or not he will be risked immediately.

Axel Disasi is a doubt for the Blues, which could see Levi Colwill move from left-back to central defence.

The fitness of Bukayo Saka remains unclear, but if he’s fit he will start for the Gunners.

Gabriel Jesus may well drop to the bench as he returns from international duty, which would likely see Kai Havertz start against his former employers.

Expected starting XI’s
Chelsea (4-3-3): Sanchez; Gusto, Silva, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez, Gallagher; Palmer, Jackson, Sterling
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; White, Gabriel, Saliba, Zinchenko; Rice, Partey, Odegaard; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli
