Chelsea vs. Southampton: Premier League – Match Preview

Chelsea can regain their seven point advantage at the top of the Premier League on Tuesday when they host Southampton.

The Blues beat Tottenham to reach the FA Cup final on the weekend, with Nemanja Matic scoring the pick of the bunch in a 4-2 success.

Last time out in the league though their advantage over Spurs was cut to four points following a 2-0 loss away at Manchester United.

Southampton were easily beaten by Manchester City last time out in the league, going down 3-0 at home to the Citizens.

The returning Vincent Kompany was among the goalscorers as City cemented their top four spot.

Gary Cahill missed the FA Cup semi-final and is a big doubt again here, with Nathan Ake likely to deputise in defence.

Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Costa are all expected to return to the starting XI here.

The former Chelsea midfielder Oriel Romeu is available again following suspension.

Virgil van Dijk remains out for the Saints, meaning Jack Stephens will continue alongside Maya Yoshida.
