Manchester City vs. Tottenham: Premier League – Match Preview

Two of the favourites for the Premier League title go head to head on Saturday evening as Tottenham travel to the holders Manchester City.

Manchester City opened their 2019-20 campaign with an incredible 5-0 win away at West Ham United.

Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick, with Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero also opening their accounts for the season.

Tottenham recovered from a goal down to beat newly promoted Aston Villa, eventually winning 3-1.

New signing Tanguy Ndombele equalised from outside the box, with Harry Kane scoring twice late on.

Match history
Manchester City did the league double over Tottenham last season, with Phil Foden scoring the winner in a tight game at the Etihad.

A few days prior to this fixture, Spurs had eliminated Manchester City from the Champions League in incredible circumstances.

Team news
Pep Guardiola has a tough decision to make on whether to recall Bernando Silva. Riyad Mahrez was superb at West Ham and he could return in place of David Silva.

Jesus started the opening game ahead of Aguero and it is very much a 50/50 call as to whom will lead the line on Saturday.

Christian Eriksen is set to return to the team after helping Spurs recover from a goal down to beat Aston Villa.

Jan Vertonghen was left out completely against Villa but could return, whilst new signing Giovani Lo Celso will battle it out with Harry Winks for the third midfield spot.

Expected starting XI’s
Manchester City (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko; Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernando; Mahrez Aguero, Sterling
Tottenham (4-3-3): Lloris; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Lo Ceslo, Sissoko, Ndombele; Moura, Kane, Eriksen
