Madrid edged past Valencia on Saturday to remain favourites for the La Liga title, thanks to a late Marcelo winner.
In the previous round of the Champions League they progressed past Bayern Munich in extra-time after a thrilling two legs.
Atletico Madrid were too strong for the English champions Leicester City, with a narrow 1-0 win in the home leg the difference.
They hit five past Las Palmas on Saturday, with Kevin Gameiro scoring twice for Diego Simeone’s men.
