Southampton vs. Manchester United: Premier League – Match Preview

Both Southampton and Manchester United will be looking to build on their first wins of the season when they meet in the first game of the Premier League weekend.

Southampton recovered from a goal down to beat a Leicester City side who continue to struggle.

Che Adams came on at 1-0 down and scored twice in a short period to turn the game on it’s head.

Manchester United produced one of their best performances in years to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, meant Mohamed Salah’s late strike was no more than a consolation effort.

Team news
Having turned the game around against Leicester, it’s very probable that Adams will come into the XI at the expense of new signing Sekou Mara.

Valentino Livramento remains a long term absentee, however Romain Perraud could return.

Anthony Martial should come in for Anthony Elanga in what will be the only change from the side that beat Liverpool.

That would mean Cristiano Ronaldo and new signing Casemiro will have to make do with a place on the bench.

Expected starting XI’s
Southampton (4-3-3): Bazunu; Walker-Peters, Salisu, Bella, Djenepo; Lavia, Ward-Prowse, Elyounoussi; Aribo, Armstong, Adams
Manchester United (4-3-3): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; McTominay, Eriksen, Fernandes; Sancho, Martial, Rashford
